B.J. Surhoff Named President of Pathfinders for Autism
10/5/2009

September 30, 2009 - William “B.J.” Surhoff was elected President of the Board of Directors for Pathfinders for Autism, the organization he helped found nearly ten years ago. Surhoff has been the organization’s Vice President and has helped lead their fundraising efforts and awareness campaigns.

“It is hard to believe that it has been nearly ten years since my wife Polly and I joined with a committed group of parents to form Pathfinders for Autism. We could not have imagined then where the organization would be now, we just knew we wanted to help make the journey a little easier for others traveling the same path we were on” says Surhoff. “Now, we are a leading autism resource in the State, assisting thousands of families in finding the information and services they need”.

As President, Surhoff brings the qualities he was known for during his 19-year career with Major League Baseball – consistency and versatility. As a player, Surhoff played every position in the field (except pitcher) and always delivered a dependable performance. In addition, Surhoff has 9 years experience serving as the organization’s Vice President, where he helped oversee the organization’s financial matters and directed program growth.

“We are very excited to have B.J. takeover the helm. Alisa Rock, and Brian Mund before her, have provided a strong foundation. We look forward to helping more families throughout the state”, says Dawn Koplos, Executive Director of Pathfinders for Autism.

Surhoff succeeds Alisa Rock, who has served in the position since September 2007. Rock will remain on the Board of Directors. Board Member David L. Williams was elected to fill Surhoff’s seat as the organization’s Vice President. Rebecca Faye Smith Galli and Bruce Schindler were re-elected to continue their long-time roles as Board Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.
