Study to Explore Early Development (SEED) in Children Who are 4 and 5 Years Old

The Study to Explore Early Development (SEED), which seeks possible causes for Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental delays, is still enrolling parent-referred children who are 4- and 5-years-old. The study is being done by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at study sites including Johns Hopkins.

In Maryland, children with ASDs or other developmental delays might be eligible if they were born and still reside in Baltimore city and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Howard or Harford counties. Participating mothers are asked about their child’s development and their family’s medical history. The child has a brief medical exam and developmental testing. The mother and child are asked to give small samples of blood and cheek cells. And permission is sought to view mother’s and child’s medical records.

Participants receive developmental assessments and approximately $300. To learn more, please call Jamie Dahm at 443-287-3562 or email jdahm@jhsph.edu.
