Students should exit school with a communication system that they can use comfortably and that they can take with them into the adult world

It is important to know that if a student has Assistive Technology provided by the school, the student cannot take it with him once he leaves school.

Where can I purchase comparable Assistive Technology my child used at school?

Maryland State Department of Education Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS)

Individuals served by DORS field service program and the Office for Blindness and Vision Services can find out what AT products can help them, learn how to use the products and decide how to buy or borrow these items.

Maryland Technology Assistance Program (MDTAP)

The Maryland Technology Assistance Program (MDTAP) provides tools to help Marylanders with disabilities and seniors enjoy the same rights and opportunities as other citizens. These tools are called “assistive technology” or “AT”. Assistive Technology (AT) is any item needed to live, work or learn more independently. The program provides a streamlined service of product information, consultation, and resource assistance in order to make assistive technology more available, affordable and usable for Marylanders with disabilities and seniors.
